I'm going to be changing a PAS sensor on a Ph2 and was wondering if anyone has the part number handy or know who makes it with the OE part number - which would probably be more useful!

Also, I assume as it's on the high pressure side of the pump, am I going to get sprayed with fluid when I take the old one off or will there not be any pressure in the system what with the engine being off?

Cheers.

ok I might just go to pug then as it's not OTT on price. Did you find it was easier to get at from the top or bottom of the engine bay? Bearing in mind I don't want to be drinking fluid Big grin

I normally change my oil filter by reaching under the intake manifold from the right hand side and undoing it by hand if possible. Maybe I will be able to reach it from there.

There are two sensors listed.

An early phase 2 like yours will have 4015 02 fitted but Servicebox is refusing to give prices at the moment... (Late phase 2 and phase 3 is 4015 08)

It's most likely to be a Jaegar sensor but I can't help with their part numbers unfortunately.

For what it's worth I paid

Thanks Rich, I'll be sure not to get caught out with the wrong part in that case. I'll probably have to find out the old fashioned way then - out in the cold underneath the car rather than on the computer in the warm Big grin

It'll be the early one Yes

The later one was only used from late '98 onwards.

Just out of interest, does running without the sensor pluggued in affect the way the engine runs?

No you just have to be more careful not to stall when doing slow maneouvres such as parking etc.

Had my car diagnosed today with Carl Chambers. Came up with a fault on the power steering sensor. I believe this could be the issue with the stalling I get now and then (not often just now and then when in neutral).

Having found THIS THREAD directing me to this thread here, I think I may have the answer to cure my car.

Many thanks Rich your a star with all your shared knowledge. Now all I need is to source the sensor and find out how to replace it. Is it easy to change or is it difficult to get to? If so may be another trip to see Mr Chambers at some point

It's on the high pressure power steering hose. Blue, sticks up from an adapter in the pipe.
