i went around a roundabout last nite , not overly fast but accelerated round it a little.

the car started bouncing around the last part of it?? was quite funny and annoying at the same time..

i have koni adjustables with eibach on the front and gmax shocks on rear
the car is stripped and the koni are turned up pretty much full , i think it adjusts rebound.

what is causing it?

Either:

a.) dampers are set too hard and it jacked down onto the bumpstops.
b.) One of the dampers has died.
c.) It was a bumpy roundabout.

I would also suggest that you have mismatched dampers front to rear - the front will be way too hard in relation to the rear. The rears aren't very good (lets face it), if warmed up could well be worse than standard damping. What ride height?

Whats wrong with the beam? Worn mounts?

The hybrid rear arb won't really help you until you get the damping issues sorted - trust me on that one! Run your front shocks at say halfway and get the beam raised a tad. Wheels and brakes can wait until you get it to handle right Thumbs up

Not until I get up to the workshops this weekend Smile

If it is jacking down at the back, it'll be hitting the bumpstops early due to the back being lower than the front, either lift it up slightly, or run the rear shocks slightly softer, and see what happens

the rear is actually sitting really high since it was stripped, and i have sold beam mounts.

its probably the dampers , the rears are not adjustable therefore are mismatched to the fronts, i will keep playing with front setting till i get a good medium.
may even start carrying a spare again.

no what i ment was if you have a lightened car you need softer suspension as there is not the weight there to make the suspension work. all that happens is the car hops and skips about bouncing instead of the suspension absorbing the bumps

..Taken from xsara forum.

Yeah, but you'll have more than enough weight to worry the standard torsion bars and crap dampers. They have stiffer TBs in the xsaras as well. Why new beam in your previous post?

Post a photo of the rear wheel clearance to the arch Thumbs up

I'd check a couple of things then - that the exhaust isn't hitting heat shields and the beam and that the arb end plates are on correctly - thats what normally does it on my car.

Have you checked the mounts are tight?

low brake pads? wheel bearing?

ride height looks fine.

if you have any standard dampers to hand I'd stick them on at the back.

Just a thought, with no weight in mine it didn't look that high and it was only a 20mm drop. Strange!
