Hi all-basically we've had our original cams reprofiled by Kent cams a few weeks back & I took the car out for a spin yesterday on private land to see how it preformed,I've noticed the car now tops out at 131mph where as it use to reach 140mph? Is this right for the cams to loose a bit of power top end? Also not 100% sure if they've given much of an improvement either ________________________________________ Phase 1 bianca white GTi-6:SOLDPhase 2 blaze yellow d-turbo:Off to scrap heaven Phase 2.5 platinum silver GTi-6:Just purchased :-D |

what powerband did kent say they were good for?most cam manufacturers will spec a rev band that the cams will be best at. for example a rally style cam will be 2-6k and a race style might be 4-8k. rolling road before and afte r cams is only true way to see what effect they have had on power and power curve |

Im not 100% sure what spec they reprofiled them to as my mate dealt with them, but they should be a racing spec of some kind! The car isn't remapped and as far as im aware its timed up correctly, Been drving it for the last 2weeks & the power band starts earlier around 2/2.5k and finishes eariler at about 6.5k ________________________________________ Phase 1 bianca white GTi-6:SOLDPhase 2 blaze yellow d-turbo:Off to scrap heaven Phase 2.5 platinum silver GTi-6:Just purchased :-D |

I was under the impression for mild cams you could get away without having a remap or is this essential for all aftermarket cams?________________________________________ Phase 1 bianca white GTi-6:SOLDPhase 2 blaze yellow d-turbo:Off to scrap heaven Phase 2.5 platinum silver GTi-6:Just purchased :-D |

not racing spec if the power band finishes at 6.k.I also find that you usually need to alter cam timing from standard to get the best from any after market cam. |

you will NEED to find out what lift and duration the cams have been ground to.Kent are pretty good to deal with and should be able to help you as they must have sent a spec cheet with the cams. Most of their cam specs are on their web site if you dont have the sheet but can fid out fromyour mate what kind they are. you will need vernier pulley to alter cam timing, and this must be done by a good RR operator. |

I can see the point you was getting across more but kent cams said they'd be fine without a remap but then again the car drives like it has turbo lag at the start/gets abit quicker in the middle of the rev range then dies off come 6.5k where as before we could quite happily rev to 7.5k before the power dropped off________________________________________ Phase 1 bianca white GTi-6:SOLDPhase 2 blaze yellow d-turbo:Off to scrap heaven Phase 2.5 platinum silver GTi-6:Just purchased :-D |

sounds like the cam timing was a bit retarded anyway if it revved all the way to the limiter without slowing down at all, mine with an advanced inlet cam (standard) doesn't like to pull past 6600 in 4th, shift to 5th then though and it'll keep on pulling round to 6600 again.________________________________________ need a part number? get on here - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.comBring on the Trumpets. |
