Ive recently fitted a strut brace but the top of the strut does not line up with the brace, the brace is on the right way.

Heres a pic to show

Any ideas?
Cheers,

You have the wrong top mounts fitted. The ones you have are for cars without power steering and give less castor than the PAS ones.

The other side is fine and the brace lines up, could it be a case of the top mount just being on the wrong way round?

No, the location pin is in the correct place. It's the wrong mount.

Interesting, i have this same problem with one side, the side that has had a D turbo shock abs & spring fitted, no doubt the one without power steering.

You must have some 'interesting' handling going on then.

Yeah but they feel the same on both sides, the height is the same, they are the same spec shock, which iv read about on here. D turbo has the same suspension as the GTi6 Unsure

Carl from mechanical repairs never mentioned it when he worked on my car.

I don't know for sure on mine, it has a pen mark in yellow saying D turbo on the side of the shock.

Dturbo are softer dampers, late HDI's are the same, different top-mounts point to a base-spec, softer turbo..

But different castor on both sides isn't good, I'm surprised it doesn't pull slightly one way.

No not at all, if there is anything wrong with the handling or anything not quite right i will notice it, no problem.
I notice the wishbone bushes are weak and the back end is slippy in the wet due to the mounts no doubt. Yet there is nothing else wrong or dodgy with the car when it has the other shock that says's D turbo, but could be the other type maybe.
I often drive a new 05 Mini cooper and that pulls to the left a bit, mine is straight and true.
It does seem to be a weird thing that it feels fine Crazy
