Well after coming back to the UK for a breif visit last week, I was chatting to my bro (its being stored at his place) and he has the same feeling as me that the HG is showing its 1st signs of failing.

Anyhow, if this is the cast, while the heads off Im thinking a nice set of cams would go nicely but as Ill get the head skimmed, I know clearences will be reduced.

Anyone know what I should be looking for so I dont have issues with clearences if I put aftermarket cams in following the head being skimmer?

Depends on the cams Ben...
Some of them are blinking close to the pistons - there is a thread somewhere with loads of measurements.
