last night i stripped the bottom end i picked up last week and chucked the bare block in the skip at work this morning. i bought a battery ½ ratchet gun last week and seriously made the job easy, saved trying to jam the flywheel, and crank pulley bolt etc.

ive taken the sump and oil pump to work this morning to give it a clean up in the degreaser.

will be chucking the crank (which looks mint) and the standard pistons and rods on ebay tonight and the money will go towards my TD crank that im collectiing saturday. pics to follow later Smile

Yes the 136 tooth kit is the best one to have, I prefer the tensioner set up, I never really like auto tensioners.

zebedee engineering are collected my crank tomorrow for a polish. also they will be lightening the standard flywheel for me too. it wont be quite as light as a billet item but only a couple of hundred grams out.

crank is costing me

I know you did, typo, but 200 grams is still close to bugger all. I would be very worried indeed by that. Cast steel ahs no real tensile strength, and at high RPM will be trying to explode.

I would'nt like to say, Peugeout will have built in a large safety factor, but the only real way to find out is to keep thinning them out until one fails, then work back from that point, only thing is you don't want to be anywhere near one that lets go. Best I can reccommend (If you are determined to modify a standard one)is to remove material from the circumfrance as this will have the most benficial effect with the least risk of weakening the wheel. But your best bet is to save up the extra and buy the proper one from Rich and have the peace of mind that it's not going to explode and kill/maim you.
