Hi Guys,
Hope your all well, i have a 40mm spax kit which i bought for my old 306 and have been thinking of dropping the 6 40mm front 20-30mm on the rear??? i am told i will lose performance and handling (it didnt seem to affect my old 306 however that was lowered 40mm all round and on 17s) is this true.. will i on;y lose handling on certain type roads eg B roads but gain performance on A and M roads??

it's probably been discussed here a couple of times.. try 'search'

can't rly compare the handling of an ordinary 306 with a 6 tbh

how the hell would you lose performance by using some other springs & dampers? Dunno

By lowering the ride height your reducing suspension travel, so driving over bumpy B roads could result in your suspension hitting the bump stops often so the ride would be uncompliant and induce bumpsteer over sweeping dips and crests!

I currently have a 60mm drop, on standard tyres though which seem to work well with such a low ride as they provide some 'give' along with the suspension. I certainly wouldnt have this drop on low profile tyres, would be far to harsh IMO and I would def not go that low on 17s.

Handles like its on rails this low, very chuckable, but....

although its been fun I am raising it back up to a 30mm drop when I refurbish my rear beam soon, coupled with the hybrid ARB I got of fletch should provide the best of both worlds.

Will report back when ive done the workSmile
