Hi all

Definately got a HG issue, so need to replace it.

So, on a 2.0 16v engine ( cab ), is this an alloy head ?? Can it be skimmed ??

I searched / read something about notches on the head, indicating the amount of metal thatcan be removed, and then relative size gasket required ?? Is this true on this type of engine ? Or is there a one size fits all ??

Where's the best place to buy a HG set ? peugeot ?

Any tips on the doing the job ?? Easier to leave the evhuast manifold on ??

Yes it can be skimmed.

Yes there are some notches on one end of the head - not sure if that's what they're intended for, but definitely helps identify a skimmed head when compared to a non-skimmed one.

AFAIK noone makes a repair gasket for these engines so you have to stick with the standard MLS one from Peugeot, being aware that will up the compression and reduce the valve clearance (not an issue on standard head up to around 20-25 thou.

Plenty of instruction on removing the head on here. My prefered method is to disconnect the exhaust manifold (you can get to all of the bolts - some from above, some from underneath) and leave it on the car. Others prefer to drop the engine forward off its mounts and head the manifold off with it.

Oops, just re-read your post and the other thread and missed the bit about being the cab. As far as I know, most of the above is still true!
