Fitted fiat coupe brembos the other day along with hose's new disc's and pad's went out for a run they felt good but didnt feel quite right

1st idear
Took the abs fuse out to see what was happening and rear was locking way before the front so cleaned up compensating valve no better

2nd idear
cleaned up and fitted new discs and pads to the rear reblead whole brake system again no better

Now the only other thing i can think of is that because the 6 is lowerd is the spring in the compensating valve the right length or does it need ajusting

Any one else any idears or had the same problem

Thanks inadvance

Dan Crazy

Did you bleed the system correctly when fitting?

Can you describe how it feels to brake? The ABS shouldnt really be kicking in when braking normally.

It does not kick in when braking normally under hard braking it feels there is more stopping grip but the abs is coming in!!!

Just had the car on the brake test rollers
Fronts read 290 a piece
Rears 175 each
But n/s/r is coming on way before d/s/r

Think this problem was there before changing calipers but this has just highlighted it

try slackening the handbrake a little then winding in the rear calipers.
h/brake might have over adjusted or be stuck slightly

If your car has been lowered I guess it could be the rear bias valveYes

When you think that it's supposed allow more pressure to the rear brakes when the load in the rear is increased - i.e you've got something in the boot. If the car is lowered the valve, being a mechanical device, doesn't know that it's actually lowered it just assumes there's extra load - and therefore allows extra pressure to go to the rears. This I assume could cause the ABS to kick in prematurelySmile

On a side note, if the ABS fuse is removed on a phase 3 car that is NOT fitted with the bias valve, (I think it's got EBD instead) would that mean the rear brakes will recieve the same pressure as the fronts? Anyone?

This is what i thought!!?!?!?

Does anybody know if you cut some off the spring, or is it inside the unit because if i cut some off the spring affectivly the unit is already working more bias to the rear !!!

[patronising mode] you do know that after fitting new discs and pads will take a few hundred miles to bed in properly (within that period they will inevitably feel shite/soggy/spongey), and you shouldn't do any hard braking within that bedding in period. [/patronising mode]
