I might go as far as putting an air filter in a tub for a while, but Im not that much of a tight arse to go drilling discs haha.

lol, no harm meant bud, just that the other post reminded me of your maltesers tub. ineffective induction mods are one thing, but braking should never be experimented with imo.

No worry fella, none taken Smile

I'd shit myself driving that!

Haha this is a FAIL. I feel it's abit harsh on him, but I guess they say there's only two ways to learn in life, the easy or the hard way, I think getting the p*ss ripped out of him is by far the easiest way, unless he wants to land himself in jail for killing someone

By the way Ben, don't let ANYONE rip into your air box, pure GENIOUS, I love it

I hold my head in shame! New brakes on order! It's good to see that you lot speak your mind and no beating around the bush. Not being funny though, how safe are Black Diamonds and EBC turbo grooves if they are cracking as often as they are? Surely they are no better than my home brew Death Disks?

Good man. As you say, people are just saying it like it is, so nothing personal. Glad you've seen the error of your ways mate.

The thing is, those Black Diamonds are done under strict manufacturing guidelines with expensive machinery, to precision tolerances. There designed with grooves in mind and there still known for cracking...I personally wouldn't touch them.

So it goes without saying if you take a drill to a set of discs that are designed to be solid, it's more than likely going to end terribly.

Glad your sorting them though Thumbs up

the black diamond disks will be cooled properly when they are drilled, therefore reducing the risk of stress build up and localised heat treatment/hardening around the holes. you have not tempered the disks, or stress relieved them so they will crack sooner or later.
Please dont use these on the road, your insurance is void and the disks are not E marked.

Yeah, but its easier to live with a flaming on here than have to explain yourself to a jury or a bereaved parent, shame really because you made a nice job of them and I personally thought (asthetically) they looked pretty good. Smile

Seen endless of these discs at the ring and on very expensive cars like the rs4 etc etc and these had cracks where the holes on the discs were. Dont think they are that good when done professionally.

Well, you can have them, but they're still rather round and rough-surfaced blanks at the minute LOL

Progress on the new workshops is a bit slow due to having no new cars ordered for a few months Sad

I'll give you a bell about it later on in the week jim

Only decent disks apart from solid faced ones are dimpled disks like what Porsche and Mercedes use. However these have dimples not holes, and there arn't drilled out they are cast that way in a mould so that as previously mentioned you dont end up with weak areas in the disk ! Pretty sure thats right anyway LOL
