hi guys iam jamie and have just bought a gti-6, basically bought it not knowing too much about the gti-6's. car is i think ok, but it sounds a bit rough and lumpy when i start the car from cold, but when it warms up it gets better, is this normal? also i checked the spark plugs and one of them was pretty much knackered. in fact iam not sure if it would have been sparking at all in such poor condition (ceramic had cracked around the sides and electrode was bubbly, and the whole thing was black)but the other 3 were fine, so i have ordered a new coil pack and 4 new spark plugs just waiting for them to be deliverd. basically do i have anything to worry about? thanks alot , jamie. p.s engine has done 118,000 |

From the sounds of it mate the problems are most likely from the spark plug/ coil pack. Whats the service history on the car like? A decent service will do the engine a world of good.Oh and welcome ________________________________________ Peugeot 306 GTi 6BMW 320 td compact M-sport 1967 Mini Cooper 1990 Jaguar XJR 4.0 |

As said, even just an oil/filter and spark plug change will make the world of difference. replace air filter, fuel filter and clean all sensors and you will probably see your problems dissapear! ________________________________________ Turbocharged Honda Integra Type R DC2 |

Put some decent oil in it. It sounds like that will help a bit. Change it quite often and it should be sweet. I always used castrol gtx 10/40 semi synthetic and then used the millers 5/40 fully synthetic oil. Never had any trouble with either. Cant fault a decent set of iridium plugs either. Expensive but they are the tits! ________________________________________ See the sheer power and might of the lesser known burrowing owl. |
