17. Cut your speaker cable to length and add the correct terminals to the ends. Lay out the plastic conduit and mark where the speaker cables will enter then using a Stanley knife, carefully make small cut-outs.

18. I sprayed the white plastic conduit with grey plastic paint just to disguise it a bit. Now this can be screwed into place and fit the speaker cables into it and snap on the lid

20. Your shelf should be complete now and ready to install into the car. Nothing is visible from outside the car and when you lift the tailgate all you should see is the underside of the speakers and no ugly cables drooping and getting caught on stuff. Ninja

tis a nice job, but your not realy susposed to have the sub on the shelf, or even mixed in with the 6x9s

I can safely say the kenwood sub your using is not a free air sub. thus not operating the way it should. keep your eyes peeled for a free air sub!

The Kenwood sub I'm using IS a free air sub. The spec said it can be used in a shelf setup or a ported box.

I'm no acoustic engineer, but the sub on the shelf next to the 6x9's delivers more than enough bass to keep me happy and the 6x9's perform admirably.

The sub and the 6x9s run at different frequencies and they will work differrently, the sub will effectively be pushing the 6x9s cones, they need to be in ther own box for them to peform at ther best.

I take your point, but as I'm not entering any sound off competition, I'm happy with current set up.

I can also get a boot full of shopping in there as I have no sub box taking up half the space. LOL

Cheers guys for your technical input though. Smile
