Interested but its quite alot to shell out in one go. Will keep watching and may be in funds dependent.

Would they be alright for normal road use?

They are ok for normal road use as long as you get them set with the correct preload/ramp angle and use the correct diff oil.

its something to do with the power distribution between each of the front wheels. 80/20 75/25 etc etc I don't think they are supposed to be very good on the road, will clonk on tight turns, although it will actually make it a 2 wheel drive car which can only be a good thing.

From my experiences, the ramp angle is to do with the way the diff locks depending on whether accelerating or decelerating.
45/45 means it locks both on deceleration and acceleration, this is not good in a fwd car as the diff will lock when turning into a corner unless you are accelerating, this makes it hard to turn in.
Better is to have a 30/60 so the diff is less likely to lock on deceleration and more like to lock on acceleration.
This means you can turn into the corner and then stamp on the power which will put power to both front wheels without spinning the inside and understeering.

preload is to do with the grabbiness of the diff. Essentially you would most likely want the minimum setting for road/light track use. setting it too hard can cause the diff to snatch violently.

The settings are very important as if they are wrong they will screw up the handling entirely and make it very shit to drive. But when setup properly they are amazing.

the quaife ones i don't think you can, but plate diffs you can take apart and swap stuff out.
Same as you would with most things like engines, gearboxes etc.
What's an rs turbo?

I would have thought you'd need to drop the subframe a little?

Viscous diffs are rubbish.
Do you not have to service these pretty regularly Miles? Obviously they are the ones to use on track and rallying, but are they practical for say a 10k a year road car?

You have to drop it a lot, its a complete arse of a job. Much easier to take the box off and do it that way. I was told you could do it by 'just loosening the subframe' complete utter bo***cks. You can on a 205, NOT a 306.

Who are accrington stanley?

Servicing is always a hard one as it depends on how much use it get's, Much like a clutch, some last 20k other's last 200k,

But from experance my last one did 5 season's of racing before it went back, not sure what was changed as I sold it,

The reason I tend to offer Gripper or Tran X is they are both Midlands based and very helpful, not imported and supported by a importer so if any parts out of stock they cannot make it only order it, The service cost's are only around

Hi,

My Gripper did 2 or 3 seasons in my car (not a 306 admittedly, or even French for that mater!!!) and never gave me a moments concern. I sold the box to an avid track day doer and I know he used it for at least a couple of years without looking at it. I lost touch with where it went after that. Although that
