Nothing as interesting as a supercharger kit, but some of you may have read my into when I joined about my plans for my DT.

Going from driving a tuned Cupra R to a standard 306 DT on economy tyres was an interesting experience to say the least. In an attempt to drive something that is cheap and fun as a daily I decided to try and make it handle like a friends 6 used to I drove. Firstly I bought the full suspension from a Xsara VTS inc the brakes and the rear beam all with a 30mm lowering kit on it already. I've only had the 306 2 months and I've done 5400 miles in it and about to do another 800 this weekend so I haven't had much of a chance to fit it yet, however all going well should get started on it in about a week. I know I need the master cylinder to make the brakes feel the same and I need different handbrake cables. Only having worked on friends DTurbos before and never really taken GTi6/VTSs apart not too sure of any other differences so anyone wants to point out my mistakes and ignorance then please do!

Also going to do the Bosch conversion so i can use SVO (straight veg oil = cheap!) and then screw tune it to approx 120/130bhp. (I hope Crazy )

Last thing is to make it look more attractive, so last night I went and bought a PH3 GTI6 bumper with crystal fogs. Looking for the bump strips for the doors (3 door) and a rear bumper all in Diablo if anyone has them. Oh. And I'd like some nice wheels too... Maybe some Cyclones or Nimrods? Big grin

Below is how it looks now.Unsure Happy

Seems a weird plan as all the money you will spend tuning it etc and making it handle better you could have put to a six and had the car to start with.

You can pick up a six now from as little as

Yeah, I wanted something cheap as my cupra was getting ruined driving it everyday. Someone hit it with a Cricket bat where I used to live because I parked it on the street and that was the final straw. The fuel is now costing me about

easy way to do it, Buy a DTurbo HDi, has gti suspension from the factory, less weight up front, and does excellent MPG.

I thought the Xsara struts were different in some way? If you check part numbers on the same product you'll find them to be different anyway. Same goes for wishbones although i suspect your net using them anyway.

Not meaning to p*ss on your fire mind as I might be wrongLOL

I read somewhere (CXOC Unsure ) that the wishbone is the same but the balljoint is different.

I think phil was involved in that thread.

Yeah however the initial purchase cost is much more and also tuning it cannot just be done with a 2.5mm alen key and an 8mm socket. And.. They aren't so easy to run on SVO.. My mum's HDi is shite on fuel funnily enough, gets about 40 mpg and she drives like.. Well. a 61 year old.

By the time I do this I'll have a whole Xsara VTS in I'm breaking for parts anyway (see for sale section in a week or so..) and I have 2 DTurbos in bits here already. I can get hold of most of the bits.. If not I'll invent something. Whistle

Small update, but still. Got the PH3 GTi bumper on it today. Already looks much better. Should be doing the suspension in the next week. Will see how much difference it makes...
