The previous owner made a point of saying that the car had never been on a track so 2 weeks after buying it I took it on a club trackday at CadwellLOL
pics here;

Also fitted in the 2 weeks was a Magnex exhaust, the 205 wheels where just borrowed off my track 205 for the day

On the track I noticed the handling wasnt as good as it should be so when it got home the car it was stripped ready to under go a full restoration to make it totally mint.
But in the mean time most of you will know I found another totally mint Rallye with just 97 miles on the clock which I could not pass up!
So the first poor Rallye has sat in the back of my garage for a year and a half looking a bit sorry for its self while I decided what to do with it!

The Morrettes went straight away as I do not like them! I have now got some crystal to go in their place.

the engine bay is far from mint with rust starting to appear in places

I have collected a few good items over the years so have decided to put the all to good use and build a track looking car which I can have a bit of fun on the road with.
I have a half cage that came out of my 205 which will be modified to fit;

A nice Momo steering wheel that I found on ebay cheap!

A pair of Cobra seats which I kept from my 206

A few carbon fibre engine bits which again I kept off my 206

And to go with these I bought some carbon door panels

But later found these really sexy but expensive ones

So the first set will be cut up and made into rear quarter trims and dash parts etc.

Also have a BMC CDA carbon airbox,

and a limited edtion grey OMP strut brace

I am un-decide about the wheels, I have got a set of brand new Speedline SL434 which are tarmac spec Peugeot sport wheels for 205s but were also used on 306 rally cars

But I also have some ex-touring car Magnesium Speedline wheels,

I thinking more towards the touring car wheel although these will need tyres and a refurb.

The car is now being totally stripped to have all new suspension and paint beam and sub frame.
Engine is coming out to be painted, the engine bay will be cleared of all rust and repainted.
There will be a diet going on along the way with anything not really needed being removed. A new dash will go in as the one in there has blistered in the sun last summer!
I want to paint the car the same yellow as the Touring cars were which was actually called Lynford green so I am trying to find the paint code for this.

I will post more pics soon,

Might have a bit of a play with it while its out, well it would be rude not too. Tempted to put throttle bodies on it for a true touring car sound.

Started the stipping out and the weight loss programme for the Rallye, but now I have started things are not looking too good, there is rust everywhere under the bonnet. Thought Peugeots didnt rustAngry Think this ones been stored in a river!

Oh well at least I will get to try my new sand blaster out on it! That should shift it!

All the unwanted brackets and seat mounts are being removed to save weight.

all these are going

Over 1 kilo in weight saved there but it has left a bit of tidying to do as they wouldnt let go of the car easily!

bits ready for the scrap heap

Holes that were left

This weekend the rear axle is coming of to refurb and paint it.

Looking good chap, quite a few Rallyes that come to me seem to have the tin worm too, it seems strange as the exterior bodywork always looks good but the engine bay suffers.

My Rallye is the same and over the winter i will be doing the same as you, although when i fitted the charger kit i waxed oiled it but have now decided to do it properly.

You going to paint it yourself? Thats one job i have never tried, dont even think i could manage to mix the paint/thinners.

Carl

does the rallye have a sump cover fitted?

Seems strange my 97 neglected black six has not alot of rust in the engine bay at all. There was some but no where near as bad as that.

Seems pugs do suffer from rust in the engine bays the worst.

I wire brushed/sanded all mine off, etched and painted over it. The worst areas will get underbody seal too. Yes

rallye looks like it will be nice when finished. Cant believe you bought those door cards though they cost a small fortune.

Clio looks quite nice too

Cool, didn't like the morettes either LOL

The engine block is rusty as f*ck too and the alloy sump looks all oxidised. Did it sit in southampton docks for a few years? LOL

I like the V6 Clio and the idea of BTCC repping the Rallye Cool

Very nice Carl. I've just got round to putting BTCC alloys onto a white Rallye and I'm very happy with how it looks. Don't think you can fail, whichever colour you go for.
