Ok so there was a knocking from the front end when coming on and off the throttle.. had a pretty good idea the mount was the offender.

It was new so it had to be loose, took it all apart and turned out it was in fact loose.

Soo i screwed it back in fully using the a hammer and screw driver to get it real tight and then put it all back together.. now 5 days later its knocking around again.

The body work where the mount was has clearly been welded up before but it looks like a good job (pics attached)

Anyone got any ideas on how to stop this problem re-occuring when i take it all apart tomo.. maybe a rubber washer??

Help much appreciated Thumbs up

the thread on the bolt which sticks out the mount.. or the thread in the bodywork?

Most repairs to this area involve welding a new piece of metal in there not patching up the old one Unsure

Thinking about it, my brother was telling me something about mounts and the plastic nut being a "use once" thing that should be replaced with the mount. but that is to stop the top coming undone, not the bottom Unsure

how can it come undone??

surely the bolt on the top will hold it in place

th knocking must be a up and down movement, so your threads on the bode work have been stripped

I'm guessing after a short space of time (700 miles in a week) and the movement associated with the driving has slowly unwound the main buffer..

When i took it apart last week the buffer was basically completely unscrewed and sitting loose in the housing area so i though yay simple fix.. turns out not so Angry

Old thread revival!

I've had the same issue as above, bought a new mount and the brackets of Gilsey, when taking the old mount out i noticed it was loose but still replaced it and tightened it up good and propper. Seemed perfect again up until a few days later when it has now seemed to work it's way loose again.

Willy, did you try something like loktite? Did it work? I'm going to try anyway but thought i would ask...

Hmm I famously replaced my mount about 14 months ago and have had this GOD-AWFUL knocking noise which I had pinned down to the top mounts (I'd convinced myself this...LOL).

The car has even been to Carl's where I asked him about the witness mark in the picture below (to follow when it loads). He shrugged and didn't know...

Coming loose you say...
