Ok this Guide shows you how to change the wishbones on your gti6 - so no one post till i have finished please.

First jack the front of the car up and put it on axel stands and remove the wheels.

Remove the hub\balljoint clamp bolt. You will need to hold the head of the bolt with a spanner while you remove the nut. When the nut is off tap the bolt out with a punch.

Loosen the 2 bolts holding the rear of the wishbone to the subframe of the car. The larger of the bolts also holds the ARB bush bracket with a nut on the other side which will need to be held still with spanner as shown. Leave the bolts in place.

Lever the wishbone balljoint out of the hub.
Undo the already loosened bolts.
Remove the old wishbone from the car.
Fit the new wishbone.

Put all the bolts back in - i tend to replce them all but you should definitely replace the BJ clamp bolt and nut.
The only bit that can be a pain is the arb bracket tends to spring up so sometimes a G clamp holding it to the subframe can help - this wont need a lot of force just enough to get the nut on then just tighten it down.

Parts used:
Left Wishbone - 3520h4
Right Wishbone - 3521e4
16mm* Ball Joints - 364044

*you will have either 16 or 18 mm BJ's on your car with hubs to match so you need to replace like for like, later cars tend to be 18mm my S reg and my mrs R reg are both 16mm tho...

Could an admin move this to FAQ please Smile
