let my car sit for a day....on an 1/8th tank, facing upwards on my drive, about 5% gradient.

basturd wouldnt start.....same issue ive had before, no fuel coming out the fuel pump (pumps on and just gurgly sucky noises).

used a hand suction pump to fill the swirl pot from the tank and refitted the pump, thing works fine again....

went and half filled my tank at petrol station....and now my car and i stink of petrol.

problems solved.....?!?! just keep my tank ful : (

but like....is this normal?

note: i had a similar issue with a new pump (but it died while driving after a week)...sent it back got a refund, refitted old one,
fuel gauge sender faiiled, so fitted another new pump and sender....has been fine for a year up untill today.

any help/info would be appreciated

PROGRESS!!

fuel return line was dry inside at rail.

regulator valve was returning fuel at rail with return pipe off...so its ok?

return pipe was blocked, no air flow....huffed/blew it clean with fuel cap off

swirl pot fills now.

problem solved?

SUCCESS!!

the return fuel line being blocked was my issue, and quite the large one in heinsight.

fired a fair amount of soottyness out the exhaust the first few hard pulls once warm, that cleared up eventually.

with correct fueling the throttle response/power is noticebly better through the lower to mid rev range.

uses less fuel (better mpg)

engine heats up quicker

engine is a lot smoother in operation and idle

fuel pump is quieter

and most importantly, i can park it on a slope with a low tank now Big grin

The only downside was my exhasut got hotter, extending its length as a result, started tapping on my diy rear undertray solution, but it was easily notched to fix
