I already had a read on the forum but didnt get to any conclusion..
About a month ago my car started a bit lumpy and after 2 seconds it went to 4000 rpm.. Started it more 10 times or so and it did the same (4000rpm idles) but now the rev counter stayed on 0...
I knew my ICV wasn't on the best shape so i fitted a NEW magnetti marelli one !
It started fine right away and never had any fault ever since... Until now Dunno
Yesterday i get to the car and guess what... 4000rpm (+ or -) idle and no rpm reading on the dash...
Today i was trying to figure it out but the f*ucker started fine like nothing ever happened Yes
Any ideas before i set it on fire?

did you do the battery disconnect ecu reset sequence when you changed the ICV the first time?
this can hide problems for a while, or make them come back in my case Razz

how oily is your intake? a lot of water, oil grease and contaminents can accumulate through the oil breather pipe and collect in the intake and throttle body causing issues with the icv and other components like the throttle position sensor.

im guessing the cars new to you, it might be best giving it a few good oil flushes and changes. maybe removing and inspecting some of the breather pipes and the throttle body to see how gunky it is inside.

spirited driving on a car that has been sitting for a while or poorly maintained can pull a lot of crap through that part of the system.

defo get your cambelt waterpump etc sorted asap if it hasnt been.

Bad connection to negative terminal on battery. The RFS is very sensitive when it comes to electronics. I had a similar issue before. High iddling and lumpy (kangarooing). Changed everything. Nothing helped. Then my mechanic pointed me to the battery terminal connection. It looked okay, but just a bit loose… tightened it a tiny bit, all symptoms gone.

Thanks for the replies!
I bought the car 6 years ago and all the fluids belts etc are all in order and done by me since Im a mechanic!
Just came here first to see if it was a common thing and try to save time!
The bad negative connection is a good point, i will take cable off to see if its clean on the gearbox side too!
Had a problem in the past on my 1.8 16v where i had to accelerate for 2 seconds on start up or the car would die and the problem was the cable connection on the gearbox!
