Hi, I've just built the top end of my engine and all is good... I've just taken her out for heat cycle for the head gasket to seal and settle so to speak. I only did 30 miles of driving and now have rod knock unfortunately!! It was expected as the car has been sat for 2 years with myself doing what I could and should of done if I had the time but as always life gets in the way.i think I've caught it in time because it wasn't knocking before I took her out for a drive.. My question is would it be better for me to install standard big end bearings or aftermarket race bearings for piece of mind maybe?? The car is just for normal use and sometimes will have a hard drive as we all like to do. Thanks in advance. ________________________________________ C. Hughes |

Hi, with what was said in my last post thinking that I had rod knock..?? I started the engine up the next day and knock has gone! Run her up to temperature.. Fans kicked in.. Oil temp is fine and oil pressure is about 1.5 bar at idle so I'm a bit lost.. I haven't taken her out for a drive for obvious reasons!! If anyone can help that would great. Thanks. ________________________________________ C. Hughes |

I'll change the oil and filter again and take it out for a blast.. It makes sense to be honest because my Phase1 I had did the same thing until it had fresh oil and a hard drive down the road. The Phase2 I've got now has had alot a time and money put in to it.. So when things like this happen you think F**K!! Anyways.. Thanks for your reply much appreciated. ________________________________________ C. Hughes |
