Hi all

I am trying to restore a 2000 GTi6, and wondered if anyone can help with a few questions on the audio:

1.) I'm struggling to find a MINT condition Clarion CD headhunt. I've found one on eBay that looks superb but the CD apparently isn't working. I wondered if anyone knew if this might be a simple fix or not worth trying?

2.) The phase 3 I've bought has small speakers cut in to the internal mirror covers/trim. Would I be right in saying that they are definitely not a factory option? If so, I will delete them.

3.) Are there any good speakers that will fit under the existing phase 3 door grills, and the rear shelf without moddifuing them? So direct replacements. I want it to look OEM but from my Phase 1 days, feel the OEM sound quality was terrible.

Thanks for reading and any guidance greatly appreciated.

Tweeters in mirror covers could have been from factory. It was an option.

As for good aftermarket speakers, I can recommend the Alpine SXE-1725S.

You can get the radio/cd player from other Peugeot and Citroen cars but have to change the fascia over.

Funny you say that, as I was thinking that. As I want an immaculate one, I might buy the non working one on eBay just for the facia and immaculate buttons, and then find a fully working unit (even it a fiat or Citroen facia'd one) and put that immaculate Peugeot correct facia on it...

...unless anyone here had one to sell Smile

Not in the UK they weren't in a 6. I added them to mine from a set acquired from late Meridians which had them in 5 door hatchbacks or estates and soldered into the door speaker connections.

If want to remove botched tweeter install I've OE covers in my spares locker.
