I have just picked up a new rallye, will start a project thread soon.
I’m after some advice, the car has been stored for 9 years, now I have fitted a battery on it, the alarm keeps going off. Am I right in saying there will be a battery for the alarm in the alarm box? If so where is the alarm box located.
The alarm has also been modified slightly.

Have you unlocked using the key or remote?

Usually, if you lock and unlock with the remote key, it will reset the alarm.

Yes I did this today. Connected the battery was fine for a few seconds. Then alarm went off so I locked and unlocked the car, alarm was still sounding so I got in the car and started it up but the alarm still sounds.

batteries are in the siren, these are what typically fail, also the siren itself fails but seems not to in your case :LOL

I have taken the siren off and had a look, it seems to be a sealed unit. So I guess I will need to get a new unit.

Yeah, you will. Correct in the assumption it's a sealed unit. The batteries are of an age where they fail and leak.

If I remember correctly, a new siren unit isnt that expensive. My GTi6 had a new one, along with ultrasonics in its past and I was surprised at how cheap it was

Well I called pug today for a few bits and they told me they can no longer get hold of the alarm unit, I guess my next option is having it removed from the car?
