Looking for some advice please!

I have a steering wheel wobble at 70mph to 100 and a juddering through the pedal on light braking.

I have changed;

front pads& discs with Brembo.
new pins on caliper / pistons moving
new lower arms and bushes
had the wheels balanced twice on a hub attachment type machine.

yet I'm still having this issue?

I'm based in Hampshire.

Wheel bearing maybe?

But as it is between 70 and 100 I think it might still be a balancing issue.

A faulty driveshaft can cause this.

Cheers guys, is there anyway to check the driveshaft? It did make me feel like the balancing.was correct as the guy doing it had a ralley, wheels also look like they aren't buckled.

swapped the front wheels for the back and now it has gone!

The wheels said on the balancing machine they had been balanced guessing a slight buckle.

All fix

When does it exactly occur?

When you lift? When you corner? Under braking? At certain speeds?

So I changed the discs and pads on front, cleaned and greased sliders, pistons moving freely it appears and it has cured the wobble at speed Smile

along with the peddle and wheel wobble when braking in a straight line between 70-45mph Smile

One step forward and two back!

Now the car is pulling to the right under medium to heavy braking from 70mph down to a stop! ffs!

What can it be now!??

Failing ABS maybe? I assume you cleaned the brakes on both sides?

Yes I checked callipers when changing pads, appeared to move freely to me.

It has since been to the garage. Not my usual as I needed to fit it in nearer to where I work.

They reported that the car appears to be puling to right hand side! No **** sherlock!

They suggested bleeding brakes through in case air in system, they have done this no change.

They have then proceeded to tell me they don't know what is wrong and handed the keys back to me! What a garage!!

Can you test the ABS unit in anyway! sounds expensive!

Okay. That is a garage to avoid for future repairs indeed.

When I changed the brakes on my most recent GTi, everything looked okay. Everything was smooth and clean. Could push back the caliper without much issue... not even one week later I had vibrations (mainly under braking) but also when going around corners.

Did you do a refurb of the brakes? Cleaning slider pins and adding new grease to the slider pins? I had one that was seized due to rust accumulating around the slider pin. That was causing all the issues.

I removed the slider pins cleaned up applied new grease and they all moved freely.

The calipers were new around 2500 miles ago along with new flexible brake hoses. Fitted by previous owners garage.

What can go wrong up stream of the calipers? Flexible brake lines, brake servo, abs unit?

Could any of these cause the pistons to not retract properly after stepping on the brakes?

I believe so, it has had new wishbones, ball joints and drop links last month. Shocks and springs are 6months old.

Might be worthwhile to check if all the bolts are still tightened. I changed the wishbones before summer and I had to tighten the bolts again mid summer.

Also, if the bolt in the top-mount is not tightened, this can cause strange effects... I did not tighten one, and I had vibrations and knocking throughout the car (enhanced experience because of solid mounts and no insulation). One fourth of a turn was enough to have it resolved.
