Thanks for the join. I have a 98 GTI6 in Tasmania Aus. Bought from my son as he wanted to move it on. Cracked windscreen, heater matrix hoses need replacing and a muffler!
175000 K's with 10 years of service records. Water pump and timing belt done at 156000. I don't have a pic as yet but will get to it.

Are the heater matrix hoses available?

Cheers.

Hi Gerard and welcome sir. It'll probably the unit itself bud, it's a common problem with our cars i'm afraid. Luckily they're not expensive - bad news is it's a s**te of a job to do. Although i actually found mine was quite easy to do - as i paid someone far more technically advanced than myself to do itLOL It's also great to have someone actually a bit older than me on here, ok it's only 4 years but i'll take that.Thumbs up

cheers

Thanks Nose, hanging onto my 50's just. I'm yet to see where the leak is but my son told me one of the two hoses had a split in it, I'll be investigating this weekend.

Ive had it running and the coolant is dribbling from the plastic joiners between the hoses and the firewall where it joins the heater pipes i presume. Are there O rings in those joiners/connectors?

Yes. there should be o-rings. Not easy to get them fitted correctly though... On one of my cars, the o-ring is not sitting properly, so it is leaking slightly.
