Hi Guys

I'm new here so go easy on me,

I have a black GTI 6 which is bog standard, I want to change the wheels to something motorsport based,

I seen the group purchase on the SL2118's a few years back but I guess that's long gone,

This car is just for taking on a Sunday drive it's not a track toy so I'm not too concerned about loss of acceleration so I was thinking of fitting 16"

from what I have read on line I need 4x108 cb 65.1 and ET15

The ET of 15 is hard found, would either of these fit and not run the arches

https://www.motorsport-tools.com/evo-corse-motorsport-alloy-wheel-citroen-c2-r2-sanremo-6-5x16-et20-white.html

https://ears.ie/speedline-6-5x16-type-2120-wheel/

The Evo Corse is ET20 and the Speedline is ET10

What size tyres would suit on these,

Thanks

Hi Trevor
Very few people make 100% totally direct fit wheels that your after because they just aren’t popular and the company’s need to set up a blank to machine 4 wheels etc ...plus 16s aren’t popular now either so they don’t stock many blanks under 8J

Go careful with 16s and what tyres you’re go for ?....the tyres on the front can be really close to the springs and on the back can more often rub the inside plastic arch liners with out running spacers m8

If I was you and you want 16s in that style go and order Pro1.2s but direct fit everything...you will have to wait 6months I recon but go with someone big like Demon Tweeks as Rimstock are a nightmare!!!!

I’ve done all you want to do many many years ago ...have a look 5-6 years ago on my project thread ...hope this helps ?Thumbs up

PS ...don’t.go wider than 195 tyres unless you use spacers and then the tyres can hit the arches if the cars been lowered

Good advice Damien. Shame he didn’t buy my speedlines. Direct fit. No spacers or spigot rings. 16” with tyres and no rubbing. I was trying to flog them for a month too LOL

Thanks for the replies, I'm only here 2 days so I didn't see anything before Friday,

I'm not totally against running spacers, I really like the look of the Speedline 2120's and they don't come in 15"

I am going to change to stud and nuts so running a spacer should be easier ??

I found a website that lets you compare wheels and it's only showing a few mm of a difference is everything that tight in there,

Thanks

A company call Barid will make the wheel I need in a batch of 4 but what exactly do I need,

6.5x16 4x108 cb56.1 and ET???

A 195/45/16 in a tyre I'm guessing

Thanks

6.5x16 4x108 cb56.1 and ET???

CB should be 65.1

And ET 19 would work I guess. IIRC, that is the ET of a standard Cyclone.

You can also make a drawing of the wheel to see how it fits. That was what I did. Make a cross section drawing from a standard cyclone wheel and the one you would like to purchase.

With the above dimensions, at ET = 0 your wheel goes 3.25 inch inwards and outwards from where it faces the hub. ET19, you wheel falls 19mm more inward.

At 195/45R16 the width of the tyre is at least the same as a regular tyre. The only question is, is the diameter of the full wheel still the same? Actually, it is smaller in diameter, so you will be safe there.

So, 6.5x16 4x108 ET18 should work with a 195/45R16 tyre.

Thanks for the reply, yes you are right the 56.1 was a typo,

any ET like 16,17 or 18 should work I think,

I am getting the car out of storage tomorrow so can do a few measurements

Thanks
