According to Service box it's still available.......for 154.78!

I think I might have one as well if gnrlee doesn't have one.

Thanks gnrlee & alcon! Details:
Mini pins = 17
Fat/flat pins = 4 (many have 7 which apparently don't work if put into a car which only needs 4... bit of a pain that!)
Fingers crossed one or both of you have a match :-)
Here are the pics I found showing what I currently have. According ot other people who've tried, it needs to be the same pin layout to work:

Just checked the spare one I have but it's got 6 large pins and 17 small ones. No good then?

From reading around, it seems later ones (mine is early ph2 '97) had more than 4 fatter pins adn people on forums like this have tried and failed... I could be wrong (I hope I am)

Is there a number on yours?

I tried to cross reference mine with servis box but couldn't find it
I'll have a look to see if it's the 4 pin version but if memory serves this is on earlier models as said

The number on mine is 11529. I bought it off a forum member years ago as a replacement for my Ph3 (1999) one but never needed it in the end. Therefore I don't know what phase of age of car it came from originally.

Hi alcon, it really doesn't help that my controller doesn't have a part number on it! I'd "researched it" to be 6552wn/11529, but I'm now confused if yours is a bona fide 11529 but has 6 flat pins... Dunno

My concern about just trying out parts to see if they work is due to forum threads like this:
https://www.306oc.co.uk/forum/archive/index.php?thread-21213.html

It may be that checking teh flat pins is the way forward, as alcon's reply about his 11529 controller having '6' flat pins has thrown me... there's very little for me to work with, so if one of yours happens to have 4 flat pins adn teh switch controls look like mine, then perhaps we'll try that first up?

Fingers crossed!

Mine are like this

Hi alcon, I suspect that's not going to be a goer (and that mine isn't a "11529"...)
Darn!
I appreciate you checking for me :-) Above and beyond! Many thanks (if you had any other thoughts about how I may track one down, I'd be grateful, but no worries if not)

there is/was one on ebay yesterday but you'd need to check with seller about the pins as there was no mention.

Do either of you know the difference between the flat pins anyway...? I'm wondering if I can cannibalise a cheap one for parts... it's only the twiddley knob that I need to replace Dunno

The Autodata wiring diagrams used to be on here which would have explained the pins however the photobucket hosting has blurred them out:

I've butchered one before now for a window button that snapped
From memory I think you can swap that wingmirror button but not sure if it's interchangeable between phases I'd have thought so?

Thanks guys.
I think I'll have to take the plunge! I seem to have the only controller ever made with 4 flat pins :-)

Actually... if that's teh case, would yoube able to see if there's a number stamped on your one? That might at least give me a ray of hope to see if I can find a whole one before I start going all Dr Frankenstein on mine...

my car is also an R plated GTI-6 :-) (diablo red)
