I'm picking up a lovely Astor but has an aftermarket Radio.

Anyone got a spare original phase 3 CD/Radio and CD changer?

I've now got the head unit and cable so just need the changer.

Also, what should the cage look like and has anyone got one?

Cage for the changer? Older ones had a metal L brackets that bolted/screwed into the changer IIRC phase 3 has a Velcro strap screwed into wheel arch with two plastic screwed in points as per image below.

Hadn't thought of how to mount the changer.

I'm looking for a photo of the head unit cage.

I sent you the cages on the 2 stereos. They slide into the aperture and the bolt/bung at the back of radio holds it in place at the rear as per this FAQ.

I wanted to know which one was the correct one as they are different.

From the FAQ, it looks like the blue one is correct.

Oh right, the blue one is the one that came from my car from the factory the other from a breaker which was probably the T or V reg from memory.

I have a question, too? Do you have any suggestion to insert USB or AUX instead of CD changer into original Radio ?

I soldered an RCA cable to the cassette section of the circuit board. It worked but very quiet volume and noisy.

A better option would be to solder the RCA to the CD changer cable; I've got a wiring diagram for the Clarion PU-1570 but I haven't worked it out/lost interest.

I did that once to an old Megane's cassette radio. You have to somehow deactivate the tape part for the noise to stop. At least that worked in the radio I was working on.

In my old Ph3 306 1.6 I modded the original CD radio in this way. Inject the audio signal from an RCA or 3.5 mm cable into the audio path that goes from the CD reader unit to the audio processor on the radio mainboard, burn an audio disc with 80 mins of silence, put it in the radio and enjoy. Don't forget to put some resistors in-line (L/R channel) to protect the IC depending on where you solder the wires to. I used something between 500 Ohm and 1,5 kOhm. Maybe I find some pics.

EDIT: Unfortunately no pics from inside, only from outside from when I put an ad up to sell it. I ran a cable with a female 3.5 mm connector out of the rear of the unit so I could connect it to a jack i mounted inside the tray above the ashtray. A second 3.5 mm jack I mounted to the faceplate so I could have music from my MP3 in the tray at the same time as e.g. notifications from satnav, mobile etc. mounted on the vents. A jack from an old Nokia fit perfectly.
