Hi Guys,

Can you do me a favour and let me know what it says for you car DVLA etc?

Mine comes up as a 306 (doesn't list whether it is a GTi-6 specifically) and i don't think it would either....

Obviously ECP etc all list it as the correct model, but then again thats what i'd expect.

Got a query from a interested buyer and i'm trying to make my case but obviously is difficult with no examples

Yeah I've noticed that with a lot of cars the full model name including the trim level doesn't appear.

I've run a few Golf GTis and Golf Rs of various ages through the MOT checker recently and all have just come back as Volkswagen Golf.

Is the interested party doubting it's a genuine GTi-6 or something?

You can get the car's full spec from putting the VIN into servicebox

This is for one of my old cars:

That's just the general info. It fully details the spec of the car.

Yup, as Ben says, the V5 will confirm if its a GTi6 or not and should be enough for any potential buyer. Just checked the V5's for mine and one says GTi6 and the other says Rallye so both are correct.

Appears you've a Muppet buyer who will kick the tyres IMHO if he believes what an online Government websites says rather than you're advert selling a GTi 6 and questions you over it. Does he really think you've upgraded a 3 door 306 with 6 bits?

Ha this wasn't aimed at him to be fair this was before he was even interested, Charlie was sound the whole way through, photos he has are when I had the exhaust fitted so no bother.
Makes sense he didn't go for it as he was after a track car more than road so would have cost more, plus he could pick up a pre-prepped car for cheaper as they lose the value in resale usually (cage etc i mean)

I had a lot of people contact me, this particular guy went in with a long list of requests (it wasn't just that) and it was before him even asking the basics, yet he said "would you take 1k" as his opening message.
He even was having a go saying that my car was missing door badges and all these other bits they never came with, then said it wasn't a Gti-6 because it said 306 on the MOT checker.
