Hey Guys,

Just wanted to check I'm barking up the right tree here.

My clutch pedal doesn't quite 'click' up all the way. it just stops where the clutch is fully engaged.
like, there is a good few CM if i knock the pedal back up with my foot, and it seems like a switch clicks or something and then once it gets past that quite a loose spring holds the pedal up all the way. (at least that's how it feels!)

This was a problem when i first got the car 2 years or so ago. i was told it had a clutch a few months before i bought it.
originally i figured it was just dry down there so I sprayed a bunch of lube up to the pivot point of the clutch pedal and worked it in a bit, and it started popping back all the way.

but recently its come back, and i dont want to Half-fix it again...

This seems to be causing issues with the cable adjuster?
If i dont keep flicking the pedal up, in that reverse grinds rather annoyingly even while totally still, and the gears are a little more notchy than normal. But flicking the pedal back up after each shift has seemed to clear those issues!

should i be replacing the clutch cable? I have ordered one as they are so cheap... but i hear its a right arse to do!Wink

or is there some kind of clutch switch/spring on the pedal that i should be looking at? Dunno

Cheers guys!

Hey Alex,.

Yes Peugeot put a clip with a spring on it and attatched it to the back of the peddle,.. It just sits on a ball joint so it's relatively easy to remove!,
Their renound for causing more of a hindrance than a help!
If you still have yours remove this 1st,..

Its could indeed be the grease on the clutch cable has started to stiffen since it runs close to the exause manifold they tend to dry out!,..

Changing a clutch cable is only a pain if you still have aircon pipes because you have to get the clip and grommet between them
It's also quite high up the bulkhead to try reach from under the car!

Ah cool! Thanks!Thumbs up

I will take a look on the weekend if that clip/spring is still there.
My car is a Rallye so no Aircon to worry about for me, I may well just replace the cable on the weekend if i get a chance as well then!

Cheers!

On my bother with a genuine cable from Peugeot or one made by Dura as they make the genuine. Cheap ones fail prematurely particularly the self adjuster mechanism.

Once you fit the new cable best way to get it to self adjust properly is to literally press the clutch pedal down then sidestep it a few times.

Yea, its a Dura cable Smile

couldnt be bothered to swap it out on the weekend, but i did manage to remove that worn down "helper" spring, which has made a huuugee difference! feels totally different now and the pedal is coming all the way back. no more grinding reverse! Thumbs up

will just keep the cable till i need it.

Cheers guys!
