I would love some new tyres on my 306 rallye. But am not sure what to get? Hopefully something which is better in the rain has hardly no grip at the moment ________________________________________ Dathan Magowan |

Do a search on here - lots of threads and opinions on this. It also depends on whether you have the original size wheels and change to 50-profile (slightly smaller rolling diameter but cheaper more widely available) or stick to the original 55-profile to keep it OE. But I'm sure we can all agree that it is worth it to spend a little more and get something decent. My car had almost-new cheap and nasty ditchfinders on it when I bought it. They seemed semi-OK in the dry but were potentially lethal in the wet. After a couple of close calls I bought a new set. Any decent name brand will be OK. On my Rallye currently are Dunlop Sport in the original 55 profile which have been excellent in my opinion. I'm replacing them soon with Dunlop Sport Bluresponse. ________________________________________ Cherry Rallye SOLD |

For the price and as long as it's road only, rainsport 3 are good and cheapy cheap. I use AD08R all year round which are also great, less wet grip but then awesome in the dry.________________________________________ Nothing to see here |

For standard road use I run Michelin Energy Savers + in 195/55/15 V on standard OEM suspension. In standing water the 6 can be accelerated 0-60 at full tilt without spinning the front wheels. The only downside is the cost but I think the quietness and ride quality around Devon B roads is worth it. The only time a tyre is going to come under pressure is on a cold wet corner ... so sporty tyres designed for Summer use really have no extra advantage just disadvantage in the wet. |

What are Ad08R like on these cold/wet/frosty mornings? Are they different to other summer tyres? |

I switched to Dunlop BluResponse Sport after a long reign of Michelin PE2's came to an end, because Michelin stopped making those few years ago on the 195/55/15 size. I recently switched to the XL variety of BluResponse Sport on my other daily, W8 wagon. I'm now due for a set of Conti 5's on the Rallye soon. I do a mixture of driving on motorways and B-roads and cover at least 15k on the Rallye. For that reason, i only stick with premium brands as they last the longest and removes the hassle of finding a tyre fitter who is equipped with a centerless balancing calibration tool ________________________________________ 306 RALLYE |

I would never put Conti 5's on my private cars...Had 4 spontaneously popping tyres on the company car (within 100k km) and one on our private 207 (tyres were not even 10k km old). Out of the blue, the wall ripped open. My brother had the same on his Megane, and the parents of my colleague both had similar accidents with the Conti's on their company cars. Furthermore, here in the Netherlands I've read about complaints that the tyre is good when brand new, but performance drops soon when the first 1000 miles are driven. My tyre fitter has seen this also a couple of times. Strangely, the "budget brand" from Continental, Uniroyal is performing well for us (sizes 205/40R17, 195/55R15. 195/55R16)... If the RainSport 3 is not available anymore, I would opt for the Dunlop Sportmaxx as I know a lot of people who fit these under their Peugeots and are very happy with these tyres. ________________________________________ My car park:'96 Sigma Blue XSi6 '98 Diablo Red GTi6 '99 Onyx Black S16 All RFS powered! I've had 3 pairs, great tyres, about 16k miles per pair on the back of a BMW, very grippy, probably on a par with Michelin.________________________________________ need a part number? get on here - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.comBring on the Trumpets. |
