Guys

Thinking ahead for next season and potential engine mods, I saw the ad for the 106 rally-cross car that had R1 carbs on a GTI-6 engine.

Has anyone else gone down this route and where do you source suitable inlet manifolds etc ? Any pics/info?

I was looking at trying to up my power to circa 200bhp but have realised that the standard injection system will not allow that sort of power output. I am used to twin 45DCOE's [joys of being an old git]

There's an old thread on here by a lad called yanni if memory serves right, he used some r1 bodies on a standard cut down manifold iirc.

costs to do it properly are much the same as an off the shelf satchell inlet and jenvey bodies.

if youre a competent fabricator machinist and welder then crack on, if not, get the satchell inlet and DCOE bodies and an ecu to suit.

standard injection system wil do 200 just fine (with a map obviously)

however the spec of engine you need to build to produce those numbers is somewhat higher than a set of mild cams when you run throttle bodies.
