Excellent idea!! Although if you want any series of GTR then prices ain't what they used to be Shock .

Just glad I got my R32 when I did Big grin

TT

Can pick up an r33 gti for about 13k on eBay running 500+ bhp easily. Considering he's saying not far off 18k would still have some change...

Do you mean GTR or GTT??? There ain't no Skyline Gti.......No

Didn't say his budget wasn't capable, I just mentioned that prices ain't what they used to be. Nothing more, nothing less....

Good R32/33 GTR's are high teens-mid twenties with 34's starting at high thirties. The US market has driven up 32 prices since importing was opened up under the 25yr rule. In a couple of years I daresay R33 prices will take off....

Mind you there are always non-GTR's and scrap which will go for much less. However, unless you can do most jobs yourself, your wallet will take a massive hit at the specialists. Trust me, running a Skyline ain't ANYTHING like running a 306!! I actually LOL'd when I saw the price for all the 306 parts I bought. It was ridiculously cheap compared to what you would pay for Skyline parts.

As an example, aftermarket track rods and ends.....how much????

bet you haven't tried a proper one, I'd agree most of the stock variants have some points that can be easily rectified...

Driven a 750hp one with chassis & brake mods.....does that count as a 'proper' one??

Didn't feel it was as engaging as an older GTR with same power. Also not a fan of the interior. I'm a long-time member on GTR forum and my position is well documented as are the issues with R35's..

I get the same comments from the m3 boys too. Always on about that they are the best car on track etc. Same as the skyline lads and the kit car ladd. Each has there own merit but tbh they are never the auickest things round the track.

Just my two pence worth. Anyone can say that there car is the best on track. But it's down to how they drive. If someone is aggressive in the corners they will find it doesn't handle great. Whereas if someone takes it easier in the corners, they may find it handles perfect.

Just need to do some looking about. I can't see an r35 gtr is s**t, otherwise they wouldn't be holding value so well. It really is all down to driving style and preference.

I wasn't referring to your comment! The thing is you've set a level with your 306, there's quite a few cars which are out there which won't match it. And would need a fair bit of money spending on it to get it to a decent level.

Nobel m12's are decent cars. Albeit maybe not the cheapest to maintain! Depends on budget?

OK, let me clarify....

Personally, I think R35's have been way over-hyped by Nissan in terms of track capability. They are heavy cars, are heavy on the brakes and have had their issues. Yes, they represent good performance/pound but that goes out the window when you start modifying.

I've been on trackdays (not in the R32) where I have seen (comparatively low-ish hp~450) Skylines (these....
)

destroying just about everything (with skilled drivers) and I've been on other days where an 800hp R33 has been passed by just about everything due to driver (in)ability.

My point is, that what you encounter on a track is highly variable due to huge differences in driver ability. You can't just sit there and say that car X is disappointing as it may be that the driver of that car was inexperienced or just taking it easy for various reasons (it happens!!).

Out of interest, what car are you tracking??

I've come across a few cars at trackdays that should destroy everything but they don't, it disappoints me but it's all down to the driver at the end of the day.
I hate coming across exiges that i pass with ease, i want one with a decent driver so i can see how much quicker it is as that would be my ideal next daily driver.
On the other hand, i love coming across other cars that don't look up to much but turn out to be mega, theres an ax that ive seen at cadwell a few times and not a lot will touch that!
