There is plenty on the interweb about this being done to VWs etc, but anyone done this or know of a write-up when done to a 6 or Rallye?

Anyone done a relay conversion for their headlight wiring? It cures age-induced voltage drop through the 15-year-old wiring and protects the headlight switch making for brighter headlights using standard 55/60w bulbs so I'm toying with the idea. There is plenty on the interweb about this being done to VWs etc, but anyone done this or know of a write-up when done to a 6 or Rallye? ________________________________________ Cherry Rallye SOLD |

Did that once to a Passat 35i of a friend after driving it at night and virtually seeing nothing. After 25 years and 175k miles there were only about 11,4 V at the bulbs with the engine running. The low beams looked like parking lights. But I don't see a reason why I should do that to my 306. Each of the three I used to own (Ph3s) had excellent light output, also my 2000 '6 with 155k. I didn't measure the voltage at the bulbs though. Maybe PUGs just don't need this. |

You got Ph2 or Ph3 lights Mik?Ph2 ones are bloody awful. I remember going back to them having taken my Morettes off before I sold my six. Was like having a pair of candles in jam jars up front! Morettes are something else if you want decent headlights. Was like having a pair of lighthouses strapped to your bonnet on full beam. Dipped was epic too. You could see the proverbial rabbit in the headlights......4 miles down the road! ________________________________________ Cherry Red Rallye .... On going OEM spec restoChina Blue GTi6 .... I have a Rallye with OE P3 Valeo black masks. I put Philips Vision Plus 55/60w bulbs in and it isn't too bad and as you say an improvement on the P2 lights. ________________________________________ Cherry Rallye SOLD |
