Now I don't have such a stupidly big intercooler we managed to fit the new one further back so I now have room for a bumper grille again.

Anyone got one in decent nick? Preferably no broken slats but a couple wouldn't be the end of the world as I may have to trim bits off it anyway to clear coolers.

Ideally would want one posted this week so I can fit it before pugfest!

I'm waiting on a reply from Ryan. If he has one to sell he usually gets me stuff within like 2 days and cheap too. Have to see what he says.

There's one on eBay for all of £8 but it's collection only in Cheshire bit of a treck for me from Sussex LOL

I wouldn't want to possibly ruin a brand new one anyway Ben. It's a bit tight on the corner of the oil cooler and SC cooler so might have to trim bits off slightly. Let me know if you got another one.

I still need to have a good look behind the shed out the back of work. There's a slim possibility I may have an old one there but I think it got binned Sad

I have a bumper thats knackered!
but the mesh bit is fairly intact,..
I know a few of the slats bits have broken but looks intact if you get me?
i'll get some pix if it's any good to you?

a few of these are broken at the bottom! but doesn't look too bad overall

Right just had a bloody good rummage at work and low and behold down the back of the shed outside under a tonne of old citroen bumpers and tonnes of brambles old bits of plastic etc is my old bumper grille Smile

Its somewhat filthy and has 5 broken slats at the bottom much like yours gnrlee but it'll do for now as there's only 6 days to go.

Nice car!

I assume these are HID projectors. Did you retrofit them yourself? If so, have you got some pictures of the work? Which projectors are these? Did you have any clearance problems in the headlight housing and did you need to cut the reflector or was it a simple bolt-on job with the Morimoto Minis?

Cheers it looks so much better with a grille in the bumper now though. Be good to get my debadged carbon grille and debadged carbon bonnet on and finish the front end off but I can't just yet.

as far as I know no one else has done it to a set of black masks? Probably did them around a year or so ago.

Their 2.5" bi-zenon HID projectors. They have a solenoid built in which flips up the dipped part of the lense inside so I have very good dip beam and 4 full beam lights as a result.

Unfortunately though I do have pics of how their fitted they were on my old phone and have been transfered to my laptop but for some stupid reason they won't transfer from the laptop to my new phone.

But yes they just screw in in place of the original H7 shroud and use H1 HID bulbs. The only clearance issue was the fact to aim them at legal height on an MOT beam setter the bottom of the unit touches the edge of the black mask part inside. You could trim that down a bit to resolve this but I couldn't be bothered.

I had a go looking at mounting 406 Coupe projectors but don't have the means to be able to aim them properly so I shelved that idea!
Looks good!

Had it a few years mate bought it from pugheaven. It needed a good going over with 3m fast cut but otherwise pretty decent. Think I preferred the look of the car with just a gloss black one though.

That's was a good few years ago before the lacquer got worse on the carbon bonnet with the vent in. Got one coming without the vent in soon as I get time to go pick it up but it needs work.

Thanks for the information. In fact I have planned to do a proper HID retrofit for some months and possibly paint the masks but did not have the luck to find a nice and cheap second set of crystal headlights to fit the projectors to, so I will have the ability to go back to stock whenever I want. Until now and luckily I saw your grille request and the picture at the right time because I haven't bought the projectors yet. I could not decide which projector diameter to choose because there were almost no other pics and information of such a conversion on the 306 on the net that I could compare but with your pics it seems that 3 inch lenses would defo be too big.

The Morimoto Mini H1 projectors, probably the same you got, in version 7.0 seem to be perfect but I don't like the H1 bulbs. I would prefer to use OEM D2S bulbs but the popular Mini D2S projectors are 3" in diameter. Maybe the sqare lens of version 3.0 will fit well. I will have to take some measures after taking apart the headlights and compare some more beam pattern pictures. LOL

Technically true but no one is going to quibble if their set correctly and in projector lamps like they should be unlike when people run them in open lamps and blind everyone.

Though most MOT testers could fail them on it they shouldn't. My last refresher course they said in the book if you read the wording properly that if fitted the auto leveling and headlamp washers must work.

It doesn't say an RFR (reason for rejection of mot or failure) is if they are not fitted. Purely says if washers and leveling are there they must work.

Also it is grounds to fail if the beam pattern isn't correct which it often isn't if fitted to open headlights. If you can't seen a definite beam pattern either flat cut off or with a kick up to the left then it's a fail.

Yes, it is something like this then:

But they have to be projectors for HID bulbs so they have the right beam pattern for the much higher light output. You won't have good light with a xenon kit in standard angel eyes. hidplanet.com is the site to look at. Unfortunately down since yesterday. But there you find everything regarding this topic.

Some of the first cars which were fitted xenon lights to didn't even have auto levellers, so I have the same opinion as armszc6 on this. If the headlights are correctly aligned then there should be no problem. Luckily my 6 has headlight washers so it is not obvious that the car came without xenon originally.

I worked for mitsubishi for 7 years. The Evo 8 & 9 were imported from japan without HID lights and then they were retrofitted at Portbury docks (along with what ever spec engine power was requested fq300 fq320 fq400 etc) without auto leveling or washers then sold from dealerships in the UK. Technically that was legal at the time so I was told by management.

Parking / side lights are still standard their just behind the projector lense so aren't quote as bright as they were but they still work OK.
