Hi,

I've bought a NFR rad from a local supplier.

I was surprised to hear the guy say it has a copper core so I thought I'd go see it and ended up buying it.

I thought with it being a copper core I thought it would help with the heat dissipation.

The black paint coating on the core isn't great and you can see the copper in a few places. I'm worried these exposed copper areas will start corroding.

Is it worth going over the rad with the VHT paint?

Have you guys heard of the manufacturer and are there many other copper rads out there you know of for this car?

Come to think of it yes you're right. Don't know why I was thinking it wouldn't be good with corrosion.

I think this is the first copper rad I've ever seen lol.

The original rad in phase one and 2 cars made by ordinez was copper core. Not sure if their better for heat dissipation than ally tbh but should be decent enough.

Cheers, I didn't realise this. Any idea which ones to stay away from?

I thought copper was a better conductor thus better at transferring the heat away?

After reading the stuff in the link below I think I might return the copper rad and go for an ally one.

Very interesting read.

I have found the Nissens ally one kept the car cooler than the standard Ordinez one.

Possibly, although I fitted the new rad at the same time that I supercharged the car so the new rad ended up with a large intercooler in front of it taking a large amount of the airflow and it still seemed to run cooler.
