Hi,

How difficult is it to replace the camshaft oil seals?

I'll be doing it at the same time as doing the cam belt.

When the cam pulleys are removed will the cam rotate or stay where they are?

I'll be replacing the crank on to but I think that one is pretty straight forward.

The cams will rotate slightly just on the valve springs, I think the inlet goes anticlockwise and the exhaust clockwise, its just valves closing so no damage is done, just make sure when you are timing it up again you rotate them back to where they came from the opposite way they sprung and not the long way round if that makes sense.

Exactly that, simply put the cams back to where they came from DO NOT turn the camshafts 360 degrees to get them back to where they need to be as you WILL bend valves! Yes

That's great guys, thanks.

Is it easy enough to get the cam pulleys off and it looks to be a plate behind the pulley on servicebox?

two types of cam pulleys
earlyer type the vernier is locked by 3 m6 bolts which crack the pulley if torqued to tight, centre bolt fixes to the cam

later type the vernier is locked by the centre bolt which also fixes to the cam

you will need a tool to lock the pulleys from turning to enable you to torque the centre bolt 40Nm when refitting a new cambelt

Thanks Cully.

Are the early ones like the HDI ones?

Mine look like the later type according to servicebox.

I should be able to knock up a tool at work. Would the tool need to be like the semicircle clamp thing that goes between the pulleys?

Very nice.

Do you know the diameter of the pulleys and the distance they are a part?

I've bought the 136 tooth kit.

If it's wrong kit I'll buy 082017 and convert it to the manual tensioner type.
