ive not found anything much on this conversion
looking for pros and cons is it a viable quest?

gti6 Block 86mm bore decked for correct compression
gti6 head
DW12TED4 crank 96mm stroke 60mm mains 50mm big-ends
S16 rods and pistons 152mm rod length 50mm big ends

what are the disadvantages of the Under-square engine compared to the square stroke of the STD Gti6

Dunno mate. But there's a big thread on a 2.1 build.

Dont think you will get away with running S16 rods and pistons with a 96mm crank as you run them with an 88mm crank to get just under a 2.1 if i remember right.
Pretty sure it was matty_rallye on here used a 92mm crank out of a 2.1 xu 406 and 87mm pistons and custom rods

CC=pi × r² × h × 4

std gti6 = 1999.0 = pi × 43² × 86 × 4

DW12 crank = 2231.4 = pi × 43² × 96 × 4

xud11 92mm crank and 87mm bore is a good combination, you will need custom rods and pistons to make it work and last.

s16 rods and pistons will do a 2044 cc on an 88 mm crank, main issue is the wear of most iron blocks and finding good s16 pistons, they're not the lightest of alloy lumps either!

the main issue with the s16 rod is that theyre quite short, giving greater thrust angles at mid stroke, ots better to go longer rod shorter piston.

most standard rods will be fine for mild hydraulic builds, once you get into the higher rpm solid tappet builds do you need to make sure you have good geometry, you would usually be on lighter pistons by this point anyway so can take them further without issue.

sc is boring and troublesome, think of the trumpets!

pistons wear through use, furthest you can take the s16 ones is 88mm crank as they sit 1mm below deck on 86mm, but compression needs checking as itll change a decent amount from the 10.8 std gti6 with the increased capacity and smaller compression height volume of the s16 bits.

My brothers is a 88mm crank, 300ZX pistons and steel rods. Can't remember which ones. Sandy built it.

You can't go over bore on a budget. I spent £1200 on my pistons and conrods.
