I got a brake fluid tester as the X5 pinged up telling me to change the brake fluid and it looked very clear to me. All fine. So I thought I'd check the 6 and was confronted with a mesh filter upon removing the cap. I tried pulling it out with my fingers but it wouldnt budge and rather than breaking it, I thought I'd ask if it comes out. No idea, but you could twist off a nipple, pump the pedal a touch with tube on the nipple into a container and then test the fluid that comes out? If you only need a little bit the fluid level will barely drop.If the fluid hasn't been changed in a long while I'd go ahead and change it and bleed it through anyway, you're going to be mucking about with brake lines etc. when you do the beam change anyway aren't you? If you're not swapping any brake bits and you do want to just change the fluid it will be really easy as you can just flush it through, for the sake of 5-10 pounds it's worth doing anyway if it hasn't been. ________________________________________ 61k miles Ph.1 Diablo '6 Project Thread |

Yeah I'll do a fluid change when I get round to doing beam. But just wanted to use my new toy. Oh and realised mot run out last week when checking paperwork for brake fluid Chan's. No reminder came through! So will do oil service after mot. Then try and do steering rack and then rear beam. ________________________________________ Turned 40 and in true cliched fashion buying one of the cars of my teenage dreams! |

Not sure spending more will give you any kind of advantage unless it's under very extreme conditions. Better to spend less and change more frequently. ________________________________________ 61k miles Ph.1 Diablo '6 Project Thread |
