My car has recently started to stutter a lot and feels like its misfiring. At idle, it sounds rough and and you can hear the engine stuttering slightly. When driving it, particularly at lower speeds, it hesitates as you put the foot down and splutters its way through the rev range. At higher speeds out on the motorway it runs better as long as you have your foot planted otherwise its doing the same thing (stuttering) as at lower speeds. It's a pain when trying to move along in slow moving traffic.

Recently changed all the plugs a few months ago and all still look fine. VSS needs replaced and I have a new one but surely that wouldn't affect the running to that extent - especially as its doing it when idling??

Any ideas before I start replacing every sensor in the engine bay??

Thanks

Does the issue go away when it's warmed up, or get better?

Sorry, I meant to state that in first post.....no, the problem appears to get worse as the car warms up.

That may explain why it gets worse when it warms up. £69.43 from Euros right now....probably wouldn't do any harm to change it though.

Only thing is when i unplug my lambda i still get a similar issue so that makes me think perhaps it's not it. Have done the MAP sensor so it's not that, stepper motor done too and it's not that. Wondering if it's something like a damaged coil pack Unsure

It's odd though how it is perfect for 4-5 minutes from cold, suggests that it is triggered by some sort of sensor kicking in after startup or something.

Ha!....you mentioned coil packs which gave me an idea. I swapped all four over with a known good set and problem solved! It's running as it should now
