Dodgy float maybe? my rallye was abit like that now and then, turned fuel pump a few mill and it sorted itself out

You forgot to fill it up?

Nah, will be a broken cable i would imagine. I had similar with mine which turned out to be a broken cable where it enters the plugs at the back of the dials.
