Looking for confirmation that this sounds like a 'tapper' and nothing more serious? Dunno

Thanks

That's top end, 100% a tapper.

You can always tell whether it's top or bottom end by the speed of the noise.

The top end turns at half the speed of the bottom. Plus, I've heard probably over 100 tappers in my time...Sad

Check your spark plug tightness before you write it off

It's new valve and possibly guide time if the valves have bent. You had the HG done recently?

What's the back story here? Did you just repair the head or was it quiet one minute, then tapping the next? I had the same tapping noise from a sticky hydraulic lifter that cleared after an oil change. My car had been sat for a while so that was probably the cause.

It's a friends car. Apparently it started randomly. To try and cure it, a timing belt kit was fitted with pulleys, new tappets, and cam shafts. The oil ways in the head were also cleaned out. Still no joy though...
