So you can have f**ked tappets in gti6 engines. Turns out I had 4, maybe more if the final one doesn't shut up...
30k after a head rebuild and its still tapping meant it couldn't be a guide or valve.

Goes loads better now!!

Never come across this before though heard of it, but certainly shows it is possible, maybe the smashing of cam-bucket-valve-piston damages them when the belt snaps?

I had a faulty tappet on mine, quite noisy sometimes and other days quieter. Rich W changed all the tappets anyway during the rebuild. Now nice and quiet all the time.
