Hi Gents

After all my praising of the newly revitalized brake setup (HiSpec Billet 300's, Tarox Discs, DS2500's, Braided Hoses and Blue wotsit fluid) following my trackday last week i've started the car up and the first inch of brake pedal travel is totally floppy - i mean its dead travel.

If i then push harder it stops like a rocket as normal, however its not safe having such a dead zone! Have i just boiled the fluid? (i cant see any leaks etc) or could it be servo related or something?

I changed to a bigger master cylinder when I fitted my ap 4 pots. Removed any slack in the pedal that was brought on by the bigger calipers.

Master cylinder from a vw transporter. If I remember rightly it is 25.4mm compared to about 23mm the standard 6 master cylinder.

The only real difference fitment wise, is that the ports are on the opposite side, so the brake lines need extending.

Bearing in mind tho, I had no abs. So this was a 2 port cylinder rather than a 4.

Agreed, I'd try re-bleeding first.

I bled my 4 pots on a regular basis after events to refresh the fluid at the caliper. Always bled them correctly. Its just a fact I had a better pedal with the bigger master cylinder. Someone else also had an improvement also. Different calipers and different effects im sure. But some things work for one person and not for another.

Depends on the piston size in the calipers Smile

Yeah 4 pots can be a bit of a bas**rd to bleed. When i first fitted my Hispecs, i think it took 3 or 4 attempts before it felt spot on.
I found though with my Hispecs, i had a long pedal travel yet went to the brembos with a gti6 MC and its fine!
