PS3's are the best road tyres I've ever had or driven on for every day use. When new they make the wet seem practically dry, almost never aquaplane and dry grip is immense too. They cost a lot but you get what you pay for. I've got them all round on my 6 in 205/40/17 XL and on the front of my Leon in 225/45/17.

Only thing I will say is the ones on the Leon I went for the standard not XL (as were £25 a corner cheaper and it's only a daily and handles like a boat anyway) and their noticibly softer on the sidewalls than the ones on the 6. If you buy them for a 6 go XL

Before I had them all round I had them on the front and paradas on the rear. Was hillarious key fun to drive in the wet as the PS3's were responsive point and steer and the back end drifted out easily everywhere. Very controllable fun lol

the xl ones have a lot thicker side wall, stick out a lot more protecting the rim, very good tyres.

I noticed the pilot super sport a while back, wonder what they are like compared to the ps3, I read reviews saying the pss is even better than ps3.

I have some 205/45R17 Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires going on my 306 this summer.
Have them on my A4/S4 and they are great when you push it some, but in the wet you need to be a bit alert, they have incredible amounts of it, but when over the grip provided they tend to be a bit handful. Had PS3 on my last car and they are a great allround tire, and they last well too not losing much of there performance even with minimal thread deepth left.

I'm a kerb finder (usually parking!) so that's a bonus.

Those who ditch the run flats on the fat Datsun go mpss. Lots of positive reports. Unfortunately not available in 205 45 16.

Just a word of warning, my Track tyres are 205/45/16 and are rubbing on the lip of the body work by the looks of things, may need rolling...

Thanks for that. I plan on running the cyclones for track days. I''ve only done a few days, so a lot to learn. And part of the reason for getting the 6 (along with learning a wee bit of mechanics and driving the members here demented in the process with my questions) was to get my Cat B racing license. Doing that at knockhill in the Datsun would cost more than I paid for the 6 in one set of tyres! So plan is to drive up on 16s, kill 15s and hopefully drive home!!

As for my other thread about it warming up....erm maybe not...here's a photo at Costco post tyre fit during hail storm, and its now snowing heavily.

I did a chavtastic wheel spin over the zebra crossing outside the main door. New tyres plus ice = slow drive home tonight!!

Meant to say 4 tyres came in at £425.95 - £7.09 (2% exec reward to be used in store) - £30 (costco voucher to be claimed & used in store)

+ £25 of cakes and biscuits i bought for work!

Anybody want two Fate O tyres in 205 / 50 / 16 Big grin (also have two Michelin Primacy's in the same size)

Well the new tyres were totally useless on the way home. Any touch of the accelerated led the front end sidewards.

To be fair i'm sure any non-winter tyre would have been the same. But I resorted to no accelerator driving home*. I keep forgetting the wee 6 is actually quite powerful.

Big Truck will be in action tomorrow me thinks!

*that's strictly not true Wink but was for the 100 yards into my street.

There always the same at first, won't take long until all that stuff they spray on them at factory has gone and they bed in a bit and they'll grip like s**t on a blanket.

What is the 315/35/20 tyre?
I really despise the standard tyres on the GTR. Awful things. Also not a fan of the R888s either tbh.
Super Sport or Cup 2 Thumbs up

Cheers

X5. Torque monster.

I've had 4 punctures otherwise I'd have switched to MPSS. I'm still tempted as I took it out for first run in months yesterday and it went sideways at a hefty speed. Not in a fun way! With TC fully on too. Wet weather and cold means no chance of making progress.

I'm guessing if I lived down near you guys I'd probably have switched by now having tried them out.
