My 6 feels down on power,I don't think it's one big issue more a case of a few little things chipping away at my bhp.the exhaust seems restrictive and its due an oil change which I'm ready to do. However I have read that the injectors could be causing a dip in power so I'd like to clean them before the oil change so that anything that is broken loose from the injectors comes out with the oil.

I'm guessing the forte stuff is my best bet but what sort of results should I see from it? The injectors have never been cleaned in 116k miles.

Any tips hugely appreciated.

Get them done properly

Check your air temp sensor as well as if it's playing up it will give the ecu funny readings

better to get them sent off to be tested and cleaned than wasting money on fuel treatments

I would but I can't be without the car for 2-3 days sadly. Is it a complete waste of time then? I've read Good things about the forte stuff.

I'll check the air temp sensor as well cheers, is that cleanable?

grab a spare set of injectors Thumbs up

no point cleaning sensors tbh, rare it does anything, just look at the testing sensor FAQ and get pokey with the multimeter, dont try to remove it as its a bugger to get out.

They do seal and filter kits for gti6 injectors. 14 for a full set or so.

Very helpful as always WP. Been a few years since I got the multimeter out so that FAQ will be very handy. The right hand (coolant?) Temp gauge on the dash goes up to full when I put the ignition in the acc position so I need to work that out to.

Cheers retro, I do have a whistle noise for a second from the injector area when I come off the throttle so they probably need new seals.

The oil temp gauge doubles as a level sensor and it's the level that is read when just the ignition is on, so the needle going round to the right is normal. You should worry if it stays to the left as that would mean you are low on oil

Mine flashes as well as going round to the right, I guess that's still ok right?

Or is it because it's been milkfloat-ed?

Just an update on this, I fitted a new ICV to the car tonight and took it for a good half an hour blast, the first time I've really been able to take it a proper full on drive since I got it. Things I noticed are 1. I need to learn how to drive it, more often than not I found myself changing up too early and it seems to only pull from 4k onwards. And 2. I really need to find some low down torque, even with my driving adjustments it still feels very sluggish until you get to 4k,like it should be that bit sharper.

Cracking drive all in all though and the new ICV has stopped the car cutting out, its still hard to drive on the clutch as the revs seem to drop after every time I give it a little rev but I'll get used to that.

Dirty injectors would hurt top end power rather than low down. Sounds like cam timing could be very slightly out if it comes in at 4k. They might be slightly retarded

They don't really pull properly until 4k anyway
