Does anyone know what size the fittings are on the oil cooler? I think it's a 10 row cooler but need to know what thread size they use!

I don't know who supplied the cooler and I can't measure it as the old hose fittings sheared the fittings on the oil cooler

I would imagine so with sheared fittings..
Would be good to have the same thread size as before!
I know your going to say it doesn't matter as I can order a new cooler and fittings for an 11mm id hose however I want to keep with the original spec so it's the same as everyone else's

order whatever is most common, that's probably what everyone else uses anyway.

Nope their much smaller think they have adaptors from 1/2" bsp down to something half the size.... Think it's a 9 row cooler can check If you want but don't have a decent thread gauge here to check the rest for you...

Might be in here but I doubt it...

I "think" it's a 10 row cooler with 1/2 bsp fittings that are then stepped down to an8/jic 8 fittings as the hose is 11mm/ 7/16!

Armz, measure the thread diameter and I'll tell you what it is while I'm here with my zeus book. I didn't realise they stepped down.

A Zeus book is not much help.... We know that the fitting is smaller than 1/2 and I can't find any coolers that have a smaller take off than 1/2"

The I.d of the original hose is 11mm or 7/16 which is an-8 which you can get a step down from 1/2" - an8

Surely they will step down to a bsp thread. It's probably stepped down to a 3/8 BSP or 1/4 BSP. The zeus book charts for Armz to measure what his steps down too.

You would assume so but I can't find any 3/8 fittings on eBay and no way would it be 1/4 BSP it's way too small!

I'll make the hoses my self I just didn't want to have too smaller fitting and restrict the oil flow, I think if I use the same I.D hose as standard which is 11mm so 7/16" which is the same as AN-8 hose I can then get a 10 row 1/2 BSP cooler with step down to AN-8. Job done Smile

That don't sound a problem. Hope it all goes well fella. Just check the hole diameters in the fittings are not too restrictive and you should be onto a winner. Smile

Just spoke to tts and apparently the cooler is a 10 row -6 jic fitting!

To double check I had a look at my new filter and it's got 5/16 written on it so that would tally up with the -6 fitting Smile

Time to spend more money Sad

What a stupid old skool thread choice. I'm a toolmaker and have never machined that thread. People nearly always want BSP or NPT. Well, at least you now know mate.

It's because most aero fittings are jic/an so it makes it easier to make your own braided lines up
