whilst performing my Gti-6 conversion I allowed the gear change shaft to drop whilst changing over the gear change lever. At the time I did not know this was a problem as it pulled back up. I now find that I can only select 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th, the lever will not move over to 5th and 6th. With much effort I have got the lever off (engine is now installed) and have welded a small bolt to the end of the shaft so I can push it in and pull it out. I was hoping that I could push it down, rotate it and pull it back up. Not a chance, the lever does not return to the correct height. Has anyone got any pictures or suggestions on how to fix this.
