im looking to change the clutch fork on my gearbox. Now, I am using a 205 style push clutch rather than the usual 6 pull clutch.

So the clutch arm I would normally use would be off a 205 BE3 box. I am sure I have one, but I cant find it. I do have a spare 306 XSi 16v sat outside. Service box say the clutch arm on that is 2115 25, compared to the 205 arm that is 2114 25.

Does anyone know if they are pretty much the same and interchangeable? Im hoping the different part number might just be as its from a 205 and 306. But they are actually the same?

early 205 was 2114 25, later ones are 2115 25, that's why early boxes used yellow bushes and later ones the white bushes like all 306's.

16v xsi would use a pull clutch so wont be compatible, unless you mean the alloy block XS which will be the same as a late 205.

Right. its an alloy block.. Good start. And putting the VIN into servicebox, says that it should definitely be 2115 25.... So... All good for me to bung that one on the rally car and see if I can select gears successfully?

Thank god for that. Means I might be able to tick something off the list this weekend.

Is the alloy blocked engine a good base for anything if I were to build another engine up in the future?

they were the base for the 206 WRC engine with special 85mm liners and 88mm crank, but that's a really expensive way to drop 18 kilos off the weight of an engine if you still want it to be a 2.0

the head is worth keeping if you get it worked over, its sandy's preferred base for his XU engines as the inlet ports are so much smaller but the inlet valves are actually bigger than a gti6.

Yeh I think the bottom end may be a tad over the top for now! I will make a point of getting the head done then at somepoint possibly. Ive been intending to build a spare engine for a while now...
