I can't release the tension on the fan belt on my replacement engine when I did it very easily not long ago on my old engine.

Literally can't work it out, I've read all the pages about undoing this and that, and using a socket in the bottom of the tensioner bit. nope.

The slidey bracket that goes between the alt and the PAS pump just fired across the room on the new one but released all problems on the old one. Unsure

How much of a retard am I being?

"put the ½ socket into the hole at the bottom of the auto tentioner like so!"

That bit is my problem. Nothing happens.

Did you lock it off with the right sized drill bit so you can refit it all easy?

Nope.
I just love making everything difficult for myself.
I got a bit excited when it finally moved so completely forgot about locking it Roll eyes
