I can't seem to twist the piston in further enough in order for me to put the two new pads in . The pads seem pretty thick but the box does say read pads
Any ideas?

photos of the rear pads?sounds like you just need to wind the piston in a bit more tbh, they can be stubborn, should go right in flush with the dust seal from memory ________________________________________ 306 rallye reproduction decals (full sets/individual decals) | 306 b-pillar textured vinyl weatherstrips306 slam panel esso stickers | 306 yellow / orange / pension fund red side door badges gti6 inlet manifold badges | 306 rear boot badges (p2/p3) winner of Extraction of toys from prams with outstanding vigour award 2009 [source: gti6 owners club] |

Nah it's off by about 8mm I think I've been given the wrong pad there about three times thicker than the ones that came off and they looked pretty decent |

From new rear pads never have that much material on them.Overall thickness is 10.5mm and friction material is 6.5mm on the spare set I have here. ________________________________________ '90 1.6 205 GTi, '98 306 GTi-6 |

Either I am a compete tool or the pads are too big, the friction material alone is 10mm |

they'll be front pads or incorrectly boxed by wherever you got them from, i was gonna say they're only about 5-6mm material from new. i've had so many mot testers say my pads are low despite them being vitually new! at which point i go into Terminator mode and serve them some peugeot knowledge________________________________________ 306 rallye reproduction decals (full sets/individual decals) | 306 b-pillar textured vinyl weatherstrips306 slam panel esso stickers | 306 yellow / orange / pension fund red side door badges gti6 inlet manifold badges | 306 rear boot badges (p2/p3) winner of Extraction of toys from prams with outstanding vigour award 2009 [source: gti6 owners club] |

Did you disconnect the handbrake cables at the calipers? This gives an extra few mms to get the pads in. |

I must have done a dozen rear brake changes on these cars and I've never needed to do this. Besides, he's clearly been given the wrong pads. They should be 11mm total thickness from new, and his are 15mm. edit: Beaten to it by Rikky. ________________________________________ Rich |
